Victoria General Hospital Healing Garden

The Victoria General Hospital (VGH) healing garden is conceived as a place of refuge, relaxation and recovery. Growing out of VGH’s Buhler Oncology addition and Emergency Department Expansions completed by LM Architectural Group and HTFC over the past five years, the miracle garden provides an outdoor healing landscape for the 500+ patients, staff and visitors who use the VGH every day.

Working with the VGH Foundation, HTFC has developed an outdoor space on the south end of the grounds that engages all the senses. The design stimulates physical and emotional renewal for users of every age and ability throughout each day and each season. The garden is divided into active, social and secluded public spaces surrounded by five lush healing gardens. The active elements in the garden include a sinuous water wall, a fountain head waterfall, a reflecting pool, an outdoor fireplace, a shade pavilion eating area and a light sculpture that is also a children’s play area. The space is furnished with comfortable custom wood seating, ambient lighting, and an ornamental screen that doubles as a donor wall.
