HTFC Planning & Design has assisted more than 20 First Nations located in Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Northwestern Ontario with their Land Capability, Use and Selection Studies. HTFC worked with each First Nation to identify suitable provincial Crown land to be acquired as new Reserves under various settlement/implementation agreements between the First Nations and government parties. HTFC approaches each study as a community land use planning process where lands are identified for selection that satisfy each Nation’s individual priorities and goals for social, cultural, economic and community development. The process is truly collaborative, with HTFC contributing technical expertise in land analysis and land planning, and First Nation members contributing local and traditional knowledge.
