Helen Betty Osborne Ininew Resource Centre

The Helen Betty Osborne Ininew Resource Centre is a comprehensive school for kindergarten to grade 12 students in Norway House, Manitoba. Its opening in September 2004 culminated an extensive process of planning, design and construction of one of the largest First Nation Schools in Canada. HTFC was engaged by Gaboury Préfontaine Perry Architects to provide landscape architectural services for the project. We were responsible for the site analysis, program development, and site design including sub-surface preparation, drainage, and surface treatments such as turf, playgrounds and pavement. Shallow bedrock and muskeg presented a number of challenges on this 11 hectare (23 acre) site. The school is featured as a site development case study in the eleventh edition of the classic reference volume, Architectural Graphic Standards.
