Job Opportunity: Community Planner

HTFC is looking for a staff member to support ongoing planning work in both northern and southern Manitoba. Current work focuses on implementing Treaty, resource development, and northern flood agreements; Indigenous Protected and Conserved Areas; community, regional and municipal planning; wildlife management; and public engagement. This work relies on strong skills in communication, file management, spatial planning, community process, research, and writing.


We are looking for someone who:

  • Is a team-player and willing to take on a variety of work
  • Is able to work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team
  • Has excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Can organize and synthesize large volumes of information
  • Has post-secondary education in Planning, Landscape Architecture, Natural Resource Management, Environmental Sciences, Anthropology, Geography or a related field
  • Has experience working with Indigenous peoples and/or rural or remote communities

Valuable Skills

  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft 365 / Office is an asset
  • Training and Experience in GIS, Vectorworks, or Adobe Design Apps is an asset
  • Understanding of biophysical processes, physical geography and landforms is an asset
  • Ininiw or Anishinaabe cultural and/or language skills are highly valued
  • Additional skills in I.T., mapping, graphic design, desktop publishing, social media, or related fields are valued
