Media Release: HTFC Planning & Design receives two CSLA National Awards and a Spirit of Winnipeg Award win

Winnipeg, MB – HTFC Planning & Design is honoured to be the first prairie firm to receive the prestigious Jury’s Award of Excellence and a National Award from the Canadian Society of Landscape Architects (CSLA) for Upper Fort Garry Provincial Park. The firm also shares in a National Award with NVision Insight Group for the Kinngaaluk Territorial Park Master Plan. The double win was announced just days after HTFC’s success in the Design and Building category at the Spirit of Winnipeg Awards on March 9th.

The CSLA National Awards of Excellence are judged by a national jury of landscape architects. The Kinngaaluk Territorial Park Master Plan by Nvision Insight Group, supported by HTFC, was among fifteen winners chosen this year to receive a National Award. The Jury’s Award of Excellence is reserved for a single project that best demonstrates the CSLA’s vision of advancing the art, science and practice of landscape architecture.

“Upper Fort Garry Provincial Park is an inspired recipe for drawing people in to an important piece of history,” said the Jury in a press release on March 12, “Little remained on this important site; it fell to the landscape architect to tell its story.”

“Upper Fort Garry is a departure from standard heritage interpretation. Our team worked hard to honour the fort’s heritage while stimulating new conversations, and it’s great to see that hard work recognized,” says Glen Manning, Managing Principal at HTFC Planning & Design, “We also want to congratulate NVision and thank them for the opportunity to work alongside such a talented team.”

Starting off the award-winning streak, HTFC received their first award at the Winnipeg Chamber of Commerce’s 9th annual Spirit of Winnipeg Awards. The award recognizes efforts to create unique, beautiful, and healthy built environments that improve how we experience and interact with Winnipeg

The CSLA national awards will be presented at a gala during the 2018 CSLA-OALA Congress on April 7th in Toronto. The Chamber’s Spirit of Winnipeg Awards, gathered over 400 people to acknowledge 22 local establishments for their dedication to making a difference in Winnipeg.
